Job Summary:
A Legal Renewables Contract Manager (“Contract Manager”) is responsible for overseeing and managing the full lifecycle of contracts and related legal matters in support of renewable energy projects. This role typically requires close collaboration with internal teams, such as project developers, finance professionals, and compliance specialists. By comprehensively advising on contractual obligations, securing the necessary approvals, and ensuring compliance with all relevant laws, this individual plays a key role in protecting the organization’s interests and facilitating the timely execution of renewable energy initiatives. This role will report to the US General Counsel Low Carbon Generation.
This position is based in Downtown Houston with a hybrid work model of 3 days in the office and 2 days from home.
Key Responsibilities:
Contract Manager provides a broad scope of support to the LCG legal department in support of Renewables NA. The Contract Manager’s responsibilities include, among other things:
- Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts with suppliers, vendors, and other stakeholders, ensuring compliance with legal and industry standards.
- Identifying and mitigating contract risks, including legal, financial, and project-related risks.
- Ensuring compliance with all contractual obligations and deadlines.
- Providing legal guidance and support to project teams on contract-related matters.
- Managing contract changes and amendments as needed.
- Monitoring contract performance and addressing any issues that may arise.
- Collaborating with internal teams to ensure contracts are effectively managed.
- Consulting with in-house legal counsel on contract-related matters.
- Overseeing the organization and maintenance of contract files and other project-related documentation.
- Other tasks and projects as assigned.
Requirements:
- Juris Doctorate from ABA accredited law school.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience of contract management, including, but not limited, negotiating and drafting renewables agreements.
- Strong communication skills and a proven ability to advise business managers on complex legal matters.
- Proven responsibility and organizational and time-management skills.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Solid computer skills and in-depth knowledge of relevant software, such as MS Office Suite.
- Integrity, good judgment and strong decision-making abilities.
- Careful handling of confidential information.
- Strong information-gathering and information-monitoring skills.
- Initiative and flexibility; and
