Job Description

Who we are: First Street is the standard for Climate Risk Financial Modeling. We use transparent and peer-reviewed methodologies to calculate the past, present, and future climate risk for every property in the world. We started working with the world’s leading climate scientists to create groundbreaking, climate-adjusted, property specific models over 8 years ago and haven’t stopped.

Our mission: We exist to connect climate and financial risk.

Our data: We create physics-based, deterministic models of flooding, wildfire and hurricanes, and advanced statistical models of extreme heat, air quality, drought, hail, severe convective storms, winter storms, and more. All of this data is used to create property-level financial risk metrics and macroeconomic variables to quantify the impacts of climate, property by property.

Our customers: We empower governments at the highest levels to make smart regulations, businesses to avoid bad investments, and everyday Americans to understand their personal risk from climate change. We are relied on every day by:

  • Agencies ranging from the U.S. Department of Treasury to Fannie Mae

  • The world's biggest banks such as Bank of America and Wells Fargo

  • Institutional investors like Nuveen and Blackstone

  • Millions of everyday users on Zillow, Redfin, Realtor.com, Homes.com, and more

We believe:  With the right data, we can identify the problems, avoid bad investments, and implement solutions. This is why we have invested tens of millions of dollars into our science, data, people, and products and have raised tens of millions more to move even faster. Come join us and use your talents to change the world.

Marketing and Sales at First Street work in close partnership to drive awareness, demand, and revenue for our climate risk data products. Our mission is to help businesses, governments, and individuals understand and adapt to the increasing risks of climate change—through data, storytelling, and strategic engagement.

As a Marketing & Sales Intern, you’ll spend 8 weeks embedded with both teams, gaining hands-on experience with real-world projects that support go-to-market execution, customer engagement, and content development. You’ll contribute to campaign execution, assist in sales and marketing operations, and help bring our products and mission to life through collaborative, high-impact work.

This internship is ideal for someone eager to explore the intersection of marketing, sales, and climate-focused technology. You’ll leave with a deeper understanding of how integrated go-to-market teams operate in a data-driven startup, and how climate intelligence can shape decision-making across industries.

What you’ll do:

  • Assist in the management and development of marketing content and campaign assets—such as social copy, blog posts, product one-pagers, and email drafts.

  • Support sales enablement by helping build and update sales collateral, pitch materials, and customer-facing resources.

  • Contribute to organizing and preparing for webinars, events, or customer demos alongside marketing and sales stakeholders.

  • Collaborate with team members to track and organize performance data from marketing or sales tools (e.g., CRM, email platforms).

  • Take on an individual or team-based project that contributes meaningfully to a live company initiative, with mentorship and feedback throughout the process.

  • Attend team meetings, brainstorms, and training sessions to learn more about the climate tech industry, First Street’s mission, and career paths in marketing and sales.

What you’ll need:

  • Current enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate program (rising senior or MBA program), ideally with a focus in marketing, business, environmental studies, communications, or a related field.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to adapt tone for different audiences.

  • Curiosity about climate risk, technology, and how storytelling drives impact and revenue.

  • Organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.

  • A collaborative mindset and a willingness to learn from feedback and cross-functional teams.

  • Proficiency with Google Workspace (Docs, Slides, Sheets); familiarity with HubSpot, Salesforce, or design tools is a plus, but not required.

What will make you stand out:

  • Prior internship, volunteer, or campus experience related to marketing, communications, or sales.

  • Passion for climate issues and an interest in data as a tool for awareness and change.

  • A proactive approach and enthusiasm for jumping into new projects with creativity and curiosity.

How we work:

  • Impact: We only focus on things that move the needle

  • Drive: We are driven by the role we play in connecting climate and financial risk

  • Ownership: This is our company and we act accordingly

  • Urgency: We move quickly because the world depends on it

  • Resilience: We have a growth mindset in all that we do

We are an equal opportunity employer and value diversity at our company. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability status.
