Job Description

About Rhoic

At Rhoic, we’re on a mission to help people and the environment by making industry more efficient and sustainable with our new nano-manufacturing technology. Rhoic is poised to tackle some of the world's biggest problems like removing forever chemicals and CO2 from our environment to transforming energy solutions.

We're building a next generation electrospinner that can produce nanofibers for performance materials with higher precision and at significantly lower cost across industries.

This is a tool with the potential for deep impact and we will deploy it where it can make the greatest difference. If you're motivated by real-world challenges with real impact, you'll find a driven team that shares your passion here at Rhoic.

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and hands-on Founding Electrical Engineer with expertise in high voltage electrical engineering and power electronics. This role is for someone who thrives in a fast-moving startup environment, is willing to roll up their sleeves and build, and can bridge the apply systems thinking to new designs.

As the first engineering team member at Rhoic, you will have a direct impact on our core technology and play a critical role in shaping the company’s future. You’ll lead the development of our high-voltage system, design how our systems interact with our technology, and guide the integration needed to bring it all together. We’re looking for someone who sees engineering not just as technical problem-solving, but as a tool to help people and solve meaningful problems at scale.

What You’ll Do:

  • Lead the end-to-end development of Rhoic’s core technology, from prototyping to deployment.

  • Own design and deployment of first-of-a-kind transformers for electrospinning applications.

  • Own PCB design and layout, power electronics, and industrial testing.

  • Establish and implement best practices for engineering, safety, and reliability in a high-voltage industrial setting.

  • Work hands-on in the lab to build, test, and iterate on designs quickly.

  • Collaborate closely with leadership on strategic decisions and long-term technology roadmaps.

What We’re Looking For

We know the best candidates don’t always check every box, but if most of these describe you, we’d love to talk:

Must-Haves (Core Requirements)

  • Applied knowledge of power electronics and signal behavior, including experience with high-voltage system design, transformer operation and sizing, frequency-dependent behavior of circuit components (e.g., capacitive/inductive impedance), and safe measurement techniques for HV/low-current environments.

  • Experience designing and building HV systems (10kV+). Familiarity with safety standards, insulation, breakdown prevention.

  • Proven ability to design and implement automated electromechanical systems, integrating sensors, actuators, and control systems for scalable, reliable operations in advanced manufacturing.

  • Able to program microcontrollers or single-board computers for sensor data acquisition, control loops, or communications.

  • Willing iterate rapidly, pivot, and solve problems that pop up unexpectedly.

Nice-to-Haves

  • Familiarity with PLCs, motion control, or advanced robotics.

  • Experience collaborating with fabrication houses, ensuring design for manufacturability (DFM)

  • Comfort using lab equipment (oscilloscopes, HV supplies) and mechanical prototyping (8020 frames, sheet metal, 3D printing).

  • Direct experience with electrospinning processes, nanofiber fabrication, or other advanced materials manufacturing.

  • Experience designing or implementing advanced control loops, data capture, or high-speed digital interfaces with FPGAs or Real-Time systems.

  • Building UI dashboards, data analysis tools, or integrating with cloud services for remote monitoring.

  • Previous record of building an engineering team, establishing best practices, and mentoring junior engineers.

Why Join Rhoic?

  • A rare opportunity to build a category-defining company from the ground up doing work that matters for people and planet.

  • Ownership and leadership in a critical engineering function.

  • A dynamic, hands-on role where you’ll actually build the tech, not just oversee it.

  • Work alongside a passionate, fun, and mission-driven team focused on climate impact and advanced manufacturing.

  • A culture of curiosity, respect, and shared ownership, where your contributions shape the path forward.

Compensation

Compensation will vary based on experience, with a broad salary range to reflect the scope of candidates we’re considering. As an early team member, you’ll also receive a meaningful equity grant, with the amount structured in relation to your base salary.
