EPE is seeking a technically driven and strategically minded Director of Regulatory Strategy to establish, coordinate and lead utility Regulatory consulting services offering that strengthens EPE’s consulting services. The ideal candidate should have a deep understanding of electric utility regulatory frameworks, needs, requirements and compliance that are essential to ensure grid reliability, resiliency, affordability and flexibility. In addition, the ideal candidate should have an understanding of business development and sales principals, catering specifically to utility clients, their business model and their needs. The ideal candidate should have some existing relationships with IOU utilities, RTO, ISO, electric cooperatives and municipalities across the North America. As a key leadership team member, the candidate will be instrumental in transforming internal and disparate regulatory offerings that EPE has today into scalable client-facing services, aligning services offerings and product development with market needs and the evolving regulatory environments. This position reports to the EVP of Utilities

 

 

How you can make an impact:

 

Regulatory Leadership and Strategy

  • Baseline existing EPE regulatory support capabilities
  • Develop and establish EPE’s roadmap for regulatory services
  • Identify risks and threats to EPE’s business model with regards to regulatory services
  • Identify market potential for regulatory services (SAM)
  • Develop business development (BD) targets and revenue targets associated with regulatory service offerings in 2026
  • Develop resources plans and team structure to execute on roadmap and service offering
  • Develop a BD plan, including marketing support, client outreach and sales
  • Continuously monitor industry trends, regulatory shifts (e.g., FERC, NERC), and emerging technologies (e.g., AI, grid-forming inverters) to guide service offering direction to align with EPE long-term business goals.

Outreach, Communication and Value Capture

  • Work with subject matter experts to develop white papers, technical reports and presentations to communicate EPE’s Regulatory services and offerings in support of industry needs.
  • Work with marketing to position EPE’s existing and emerging capabilities and support go-to-market strategy for EPE’s comprehensive service offerings.

 

Qualifications

Bring your passion, here's what’s needed:

  • 12+ years of experience in the electric power sector including experience in regulatory compliance, regulatory utility needs, transmission and distribution planning

  • Proven track record of launching successful technical services

  • Proven ability to lead technical and sales teams

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.

  • Independent critical thinking and creative problem-solving skills.

  • Proven team player skills with ability to build and maintain internal and external relationships.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, excellent business, and technical writing.

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Location: This position will be located in Austin, TX – (Remote candidates may also be considered)

Travel:  Occasional travel may be needed (50% or less)
