Introduction:
NSBE (National Society of Black Engineers) is a non-profit organization with over 16,000 members in 500 active chapters all over the world. NSBE's mission is to 'increase the number of culturally responsible Black Engineers who excel academically, succeed professionally and positively impact the community.' Within the Queen's University NSBE Chapter, we plan on achieving this goal by offering opportunities for mentorship, academic support, and professional development. We're looking to hire a team of motivated and passionate students for our exec team to help us accomplish this goal.
Role Description:
As Mentorship Lead, you’ll spearhead the development and leadership of NSBE Queen’s mentorship program—an initiative at the heart of our community. You’ll build meaningful connections between upper-year students, alumni, and industry professionals with members, creating lasting academic and professional impact.
Main Responsibilities:
- Develop and manage a structured mentorship program
- Recruit and pair mentors and mentees based on goals, interests, and experiences
- Facilitate regular check-ins, events, and workshops to support mentorship growth
- Foster an inclusive and supportive environment for mentorship engagement
- Track mentorship outcomes and gather feedback to improve the program
Must Have Qualities:
- Strong teamwork and collaboration skills
- Effective written, and oral communication skills.
- Effective time-management skills.
Nice To Have Qualities:
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Experience organizing community or peer-support initiatives
- Passion for mentorship and student development
Additional Information:
The expected time commitment of the NSBE exec team varies by role, but is expected to be 1-3 hours a week. This includes meetings, events, and club communications.
