Introduction:
NSBE (National Society of Black Engineers) is a non-profit organization with over 16,000 members in 500 active chapters all over the world. NSBE's mission is to 'increase the number of culturally responsible Black Engineers who excel academically, succeed professionally and positively impact the community.' Within the Queen's University NSBE Chapter, we plan on achieving this goal by offering opportunities for mentorship, academic support, and professional development. We're looking to hire a team of motivated and passionate students for our exec team to help us accomplish this goal.
Role Description:
As Finance Lead, you’ll oversee all financial aspects of NSBE Queen’s, ensuring our funds are managed responsibly and transparently. From budgeting and tracking expenses to processing reimbursements and spearheading Dean’s Donation applications, your work will help sustain and grow the chapter’s initiatives.
Main Responsibilities:
- Manage the chapter’s budget and track income and expenses
- Process reimbursement requests and maintain accurate financial records
- Prepare regular financial reports for internal use and external requirements
- Ensure compliance with university financial policies
- Support grant writing, sponsorship coordination, and funding applications
Must Have Qualities:
- Strong teamwork and collaboration skills
- Effective written, and oral communication skills.
- Effective time-management skills.
Nice To Have Qualities:
- Experience with budgeting, bookkeeping, or financial software (e.g., Excel, Google Sheets)
- Strong organizational and attention-to-detail skills
- Familiarity with student club or non-profit financial processes
Additional Information:
The expected time commitment of the NSBE exec team varies by role, but is expected to be 1-3 hours a week. This includes meetings, events, and club communications.
