A day in the life

Our Accounting team oversees the company’s financial well-being and supports operational and business planning in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. We are entrusted to properly account for and report the business activity at our large and growing company. 

As a US Real Estate Operations Accountant in our Denver office, you will be responsible for detailed reviews and reconciliations. The Property Tax Team Accountant will be responsible for preparing all aspects of property tax operations including accruals, payments, and reconciliations. While both roles are part of the same high-performing department, each brings unique responsibilities and opportunities.

You will play a critical role in supporting process improvements and maintaining a high standard of accuracy in financial reporting. This role requires strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, and a proactive approach to contributing to departmental goals, all while upholding a results-driven and customer-focused mindset.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Perform daily accounting tasks and ensure timely and accurate completion of responsibilities.
  • Prepare account reconciliations and identify discrepancies, escalating complex cases to the Property Accounting Senior as needed.
  • Participate in process improvement initiatives and support a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence.
  • Actively seek and apply feedback to grow professionally and support team success.
  • Contribute ideas and explore new approaches to improve workflows and challenge outdated practices.
  • Demonstrate accountability and take ownership of assigned tasks and outcomes.
  • Conduct monthly property tax accruals, ensuring accuracy, and perform detailed reviews to maintain financial integrity.
  • Prepare and execute timely property tax payments to various jurisdictions, avoiding penalties and interest charges.
  • Oversee property tax direct billing processes, ensuring proper invoicing and payment facilitation.
  • Conduct property tax true-ups and prepare Yardi .csv files for seamless integration into our property management system.

Building blocks for success

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting and 2+ years of progressive experience, preferably at a large multi-entity company and / or public accounting firm.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel, Outlook, and Word) and reporting systems (PeopleSoft and Yardi Property Management experience preferred).
  • Strong analytical, process improvement, and problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate issues and solutions to management and collaborate effectively with operations, accounting, and finance teams.

Hiring Salary Range of: $64,000 - $88,000. Salary and whole compensation package (bonus target) to be determined by the candidate’s location, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
