About this opportunity
We specialise in the manufacture and supply of rigid plastic and metal packaging servicing for the consumer and industrial sectors.
Reporting to the Site Manager, the Production Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations across all three operating shifts (day, afternoon and night) and ensuring optimal production performance by driving machine reliability and maximising labour efficiency.
The Production Manager is accountable for the daily optimisation of the extrusion assets and ensuring the efficient and cost-effective use of labour to manage the assets, ensuring minimal downtime to maximise productivity whilst meeting production schedules in a high safety and quality focused manufacturing environment.
Your key responsibilities will be to:
- Lead and develop the team, with a focus on identifying, developing and creating a culture of open communication and collaboration
- Champion a safety-first culture that actively drives a culture of behavioural safety and preventative safety measures and activities
- Ensure quality standards are achieved and customer expectations and requirements are met
- Lead and manage the manufacturing activities to achieve the most effective outcome in support of the business objectives.
- Ensure all standards ISO, HACCP and GMP standards and practices are achieved.
- Collaborate with quality assurance team to ensure production processes meet or exceed quality standards for all products
- Perform minor machine changes and adjustments if required and understand the difference between sub-optimal and optimal line set-ups
- Support the service teams, maintenance, and mould change to ensure production plans are meet
- Work with the maintenance team to support the development and implementation of preventive maintenance schedules to ensure improvements in machinery
- Ensure the optimisation of labour allocation through efficient planning of work and ensuring the right skills are available to support daily production requirements.
- Actively drive reliability of assets by ensuring equipment is running at optimal performance
Your skills and experience
To be successful in this role, you’ll have:
- Previous experience in a 24/7 manufacturing/production environment (minimum of 5 years)
- Previous experience in leading, motivating and managing a team in a manufacturing environment
- Proven experience in trouble shooting, problem solving, influencing and conflict resolution
- Excellent time management skills
- Strong problem solving, troubleshooting and analytical skills
