Job Overview
Over the past two years, there has been tremendous growth in the Renewable Fuels and Circular Economy industries. Growth in biofuels and the Circular Economy has been accompanied by increased interest in certification programs designed for this industry to meet growing demand, including: ISCC EU, ISCC PLUS, RSB EU RED, RSB Advanced Products, and other similar certification initiatives.

SCS has developed standardized protocols for evaluating the greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions calculations provided by companies conducting a Life Cycle Assessment of the Carbon Intensity of their biofuels and bio-based products. As the program grows, there is increasing demand for Life Cycle Assessment of biofuels and bio-based products, both to develop the relevant methodologies, as well as to verify the calculations provided to SCS auditors.

The Technical Coordinator, EBC Brazil position requires a background in a technical field (i.e., science, technology, engineering, mathematics, etc.), ideally with some knowledge of biofuel production, including biodiesel, HVO/Renewable Diesel, and ethanol, as well as a passion to work on environmental sustainability issues. This position also requires excellent organization, self-motivation, and the ability to work independently. The Technical Coordinator supports existing ISCC and RSB certification teams, primarily conducting remote GHG reviews for these and other forthcoming programs, and providing client and operational support.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Client Support and Communication

  • Receive, process, and set up new client requests with efficiency and accuracy
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, ensuring their needs are met promptly
  • Interface with auditors, clients, staff, and the Biofuel's certification schemes as needed to facilitate smooth operations
  • Organize and maintain client files and documentation meticulously
  • Assist in the preparation of scoping and work orders, ensuring all necessary details are captured
  • Manage daily email and Microsoft Teams communications with auditors, clients, and internal team members regularly

Audit Coordination and Planning

  • Conduct GHG reviews and deliver GHG reports and related comments to auditors and program staff on time and according to program requirements
  • Participate in internal discussions regarding GHG review issues
  • Contribute to program development and improvement of operational procedures
  • Interact with clients and audit teams to follow up on nonconformity closure when necessary
  • Perform technical duties with the support of the technical team

Operations

  • Ensure program compliance with SCS quality system
  • Maintain new, existing, and archived program files in accordance with program requirements
  • Support the program with client invoicing and manage accounts receivable processes
  • Ensure timely release of certification packets to clients
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of program procedures, protocols, and forms
  • Collaborate with technical staff to ensure timely service delivery and continuous program improvement

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in a technical field (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, or related) or
  • 3+ years of experience working in a related technical sector
  • Understanding of or willingness to learn the principles of Life Cycle Assessment and greenhouse gas quantification, according to ISO 14040/14044/14067 and other international standards (e.g., PEF framework, WRI GHG Protocol, etc.)
  • Working knowledge of English with work experience that involves professional written communication and willingness to become proficient in English in a few years
  • Ability to complete time-sensitive projects and to provide realistic deadlines
  • Excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy and quality
  • Strong interpersonal skills and teamwork orientation with the ability to work effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders
  • Proficient with business software including Outlook, Word, Excel, and database management
  • Initiative, good judgment, and ability to work independently in a changing environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with international biofuels LCA models, including the EU RED (e.g., Biograce, GHGenius, RenovaCalc, and GREET)
  • Knowledge of biofuel production, including biodiesel, HVO/renewable diesel, sustainable aviation fuel, bio-ethanol, and biomethane
  • Experience with bio-based materials carbon intensity calculation, including bio-based plastics and chemicals

Working Remotely
At this time, SCS Global Services is recruiting all open roles to be remote; allowing our employees the ability to work flexibly and allowing SCS as a company to diversify the experience and perspectives of our growing workforce. This role will be based out of your home office.

Estimated Gross Annual Salary
60,000 - 96,000 BRL
