Position Summary
In this role you operate the machine as a Technician, monitor the process within your process area, ensuring that all safety, production, process, and quality standards are met while achieving on-time delivery commitments to our customers. You are the first point of contact in your area of process across all assigned production lines in your shift. You will also be required to execute maintenance activities and machine set up according to the maintenance programs and schedules. You are responsible for guiding the Technicians towards troubleshooting. You are also a facilitator to the Technicians, where you share your machine knowledge.
Essential Functions/Key Deliverables
Machine & Operation
Operating any of the machines of your process area: Front End, Deco, or Back End, taking into consideration such things as type of material tolerances to be held, types of cutting tools, coolants, lubricants, and machine tool speeds and feeds.
Adjusting the process when necessary, ensuring a constant and stable production process.
Ensuring the consistency of the quality during the production run in accordance with the quality specifications, production performance standards, SOPs (standard operating procedures), work instructions, and sampling plan.
Inspect, clean, report, and execute the Autonomous Maintenance and Preventive Maintenance plan according to the Maintenance strategy. Assist the Techs as needed.
Recognizing symptoms of malfunctioning on the machine during the shift, make proper diagnosis, adjust/repair using troubleshooting guidelines solving them, and escalate them when is needed.
Read and interpret computer information system reports. Work from verbal or written instructions to determine a need for and plan to: repair, overhaul, setup and operate on the type of equipment(s) mentioned above.
Actively involved in daily changeovers.
Machine and product qualification after maintenance or planned shutdowns.
Be able to temporarily cover similar processes in other lines performing any reasonable duties assigned by the management staff, corresponding with this role.
Facilitator
Keeping up, sharing, and applying knowledge of the machine.
Cooperating with the Technicians during the shift to assure the goals are met.
Serving as a first point of contact for Techs, Specialists, Supervisors, and Support Areas particularly when there are problems on the line, using the radio and any communication media provided by the company.
Training the Technicians in their various daily tasks on the machine, in line with the training plan. Monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of training activities.
Support the Implementation of work procedures, processes, and standards, in the process area that the Area Leads works in, according to the company and departmental goals and objectives.
Proactively monitor the process performance indicators and trends to preventively act and react to achieve the company objectives. Maintain records and boards on their area.
Knowledge/Skills/Experience
Vocational education a plus (Mechanical, Technical, or similar).
Capabilities to operate a process across all different lines and formats: Front End, Deco, or Back End.
3+ years’ experience as a Mechanic or Technician in manufacturing/industrial environment preferred.
Medium machine operating skills and experience and ability to use basic hand tools.
Knowledge of BRC, HACCP principles, occupational health, and safety regulations.
Basic knowledge of US measurement.
Proactive with high attention to detail required.
Strong Teamwork skills and ability to work independently.
Good communication skills with the Team, Supervisor, and Support Areas.
Training skills.
Troubleshooting / Problem solving skills.
