About Enable Earth
Enable Earth is a climate-tech startup on a mission to eliminate agricultural open burning in Southeast Asia by converting crop waste into biochar—a permanent carbon removal solution. Our first facility in Northern Thailand processes corn residues from steep terrains, helping reduce PM2.5 pollution, improve soil health, and generate high-integrity carbon credits.
We are looking for bold, creative, and resourceful interns who want to get their hands dirty solving real-world climate challenges—literally.
Role Overview
As a Field Automation & Hardware Innovation Intern, you’ll work directly with our technical and field teams to help design, prototype, and test hardware solutions that enable safe, efficient, and affordable biomass collection on sloped farmland. This is not a desk-only role—you will work on-site, iterate quickly, and help pioneer new tools where none exist yet.
What You'll Work On
Design & Prototyping
Support the ideation and prototyping of equipment for lifting, bundling, or transporting biomass (e.g., electric carts, modular carriers, cable-based haulers)
Help adapt or modify existing agri-machinery for use on rugged, steep terrain
Select and source components suited for local manufacturing and rough field conditions
Field Testing & Iteration
Collaborate with local farmers and team members to test early prototypes in real-world settings
Collect user feedback, field observations, and performance data to refine designs
Contribute to documentation for future scale-up and fabrication
Cross-Functional Input
Work alongside our automation engineer, field operators, and agronomist to ensure hardware aligns with logistical and environmental realities
Interface with software team to consider future sensor or tracking integrations
Who We’re Looking For
Any innovator in mechanical engineering, mechatronics, industrial design, agricultural engineering, or related field
Hands-on prototyping skills (3D printing, welding, machining, or DIY experience a plus)
Passionate about field-based climate solutions and unafraid of tough terrain or tough problems
Strong sense of ownership, creativity, and a bias for building fast and iterating
Excited by the idea of co-creating tools directly with farmers and communities
What You’ll Gain
Experience building hardware solutions for one of the most urgent and underserved climate challenges in Southeast Asia
Opportunity to work at the intersection of climate, community, and engineering
Potential pathway to full-time employment, equity participation, or leadership within Enable Earth
A tangible impact on the ground—from open burning reduction to improved farmer livelihoods
Visa and work permit support to Thailand (if needed)
Negotiable compensation/remuneration
