Job Description

Summary of Role:

 

The Group HSSE Manager will support the successful development, execution, and evolution of the Health and Safety vision, strategy and implementation across all regions. This key hire will be integrating Health and Safety policies, standards and goals across the development, construction and operations lifecycle of projects.  Reporting to the Group COO, you will play a key role in leading the impact through strategy development, assessing both risks and opportunities.

You will manage the regional HSSE teams and promote best in class safety culture across all functions with the support of a world class organisation dedicated to safety.


What you will do:


  • Provide strategic and operational support to regional HSSE teams for all development, construction, and operations of renewable energy sites, across the countries where Mainstream has projects and/ or offices.
  • Drive Mainstream’s HSSE programs to international energy sector best practice standard. New perspective and ability/willingness/drive to implement change is valued.
  • Forecasting & managing global HSSE budget
  • Reporting HSSE performance to Executive Committee and Board of Directors
  • Defining annual Group HSSE objectives & KPIs and ensure they are met.
  • Develop, implement, and continuously review HSSE policies and procedures to ensure compliance with legal and company standards, managing the nuances of the different countries of operation.
  • Foster a 'Safety First' culture throughout all projects and departments, ensuring adherence to safety and environmental regulations and best practices. This will involve working closely with contractors and subcontractors on construction and operational projects and working to improve the safety standard being employed by them.
  • Conduct safety audits, investigate incidents, and perform risk assessments, providing actionable feedback for improvement.
  • Review, validate and provide analysis of HSSE event reporting data, developing systems to identify safety-related trends.
  • Setting annual audit schedule to ensure Mainstream standards are being maintained on all facilities
  • Carrying out security risk assessment on all new potential development locations globally and ongoing monitoring of Security plans, Implementation and status on all facilities. Be proactive in modifying approach if security threat situation changes on any project.


What we require:

    • Degree or diploma in health and safety and environment
    • Minimum 10 years’ experience applying HSSE standards in a corporate, multi-regional environment, ideally with project / remote sites as part of the structure
    • Proven ability to manage the interfaces with and between various stakeholders at different levels, including ExCo and Board
    • Experience measuring and reporting on social and environmental impacts of projects
    • Experience in Health, Safety, Security and Environmental management in renewable energy projects will be advantageous
    • Experience in managing in house EPC is advantageous
    • Capable of managing HSSE across multi-cultural and multi-disciplinary teams.
    • Setup and roll out of HSSE strategies and/or modification of existing standards in an organization
    • Robust project management skill set required including contract management, contract administration, scheduling, planning, budget preparation and control.
    • Should be capable of managing internal and external resources.
    • Experience working with or in countries in which Mainstream operates is highly advantageous – Australia, Philippines, Chile, South Africa, Norway.
