UX/UI Design Team Co-Lead  (Volunteer)

Note: The following is an opportunity for flexible, part-time, volunteer work to address climate change. Please DO NOT APPLY if you are only looking for paid employment. A 6-month commitment is preferred. This is a remote-from-home position.

Do you have experience in UX/UI design across mobile and web apps? Do you have team leadership experience, including reviewing and managing a team? Are you motivated by working with smart and talented individuals who are creating a better world? About the role

• Design engaging, accessible UI in Figma for the Earth Hero mobile and web apps, and other parts of the Earth Hero experience, while ensuring consistency with our brand and design principles.

• Onboard and manage new designers by giving them support, feedback, and guidance to successfully complete projects.

• Help grow and facilitate design team strategy, task delegation, and overall team management.

• Collaborate with other design team leaders, user researchers, developers, project managers, and others to effectively improve Earth Hero to support users in achieving more climate actions.
  

Experiences useful in this role

• 5+ years of experience crafting UI for mobile apps, web apps, or websites.

• Well-versed in design principles, systems, and user-centered methods.

• Self-motivated, proactive, and quick to learn and apply new skills.

• Comfortable at managing multiple tasks and balancing priorities.

• Strong attention to detail, time management, and problem-solving.

• Skilled at inspiring and guiding others, offering mentorship, direction, and support. 

• Comfortable using Slack and video calls to communicate.

• Fluent in Figma.

Expectations

You will work remotely and on your schedule. Roles work best with a minimum commitment of 6 months for 3 - 5 hours a week (or more if you like!). Because our all-volunteer team is spread throughout the world, we rely mostly on a combination of Slack and video calls to communicate.

If you possess a high level of self-motivation, work well independently, have strong collaboration skills, enjoy the opportunity to partner with like-minded individuals, and can commit quality time per week to help achieve team goals, we would love to hear from you.
