You’ll be responsible for designing and scaling the core data infrastructure that powers all of these platforms, as well as integrating new data sources and market APIs as we expand our footprint. You’ll work closely with researchers and engineers working on our price forecasting and grid optimization technology, and directly with internal users on our Business Operations team. As an early hire in this role, you will have broad impact and ownership over our platform and framework design, technology choices, and team culture.</p><p style=""></p><h1>We’re excited about you because:</h1><ul style=""><li><p style="">You have 2+ years of experience as a backend software engineer.</p></li><li><p style="">You have experience delivering complex engineering projects in collaboration with other engineers.</p></li><li><p style="">You are an excellent coder and adept at moving projects through all stages of the software development lifecycle: specification, prototyping, implementation, code review, testing, deployment, monitoring, and incident response.</p></li><li><p style="">You are experienced and comfortable building data pipelines and working with traditional relational databases as well as cloud-based data warehouses. Experience with Machine Learning concepts and technology is a plus.</p></li><li><p style="">You are a lifelong learner and empathetic teacher. Platform Software Engineer

You'll be involved in the underwriting process end to end —from building foundational workflows to informing the tools that enable scale. In this role, you will:</p><ul style=""><li><p style=""><strong>design:</strong> help architect a growth-ready underwriting operation tailored to the dynamics of energy markets</p></li><li><p style=""><strong>execute:</strong> underwrite energy market participants and assign default probability distributions to support pricing and structuring of performance-based products</p></li><li><p style=""><strong>scale:</strong> provide underwriting insights to our software engineers to build an AI-powered platform to enable our business to scale efficiently</p></li></ul><p style="">As an early hire in this role, you’ll have broad impact over our path to scale.</p><p style=""></p><h1>We’re excited about you because</h1><ul style=""><li><p style="">You have 7-12 years of experience as an underwriter with demonstrated expertise in credit risk and a proven track record of establishing efficient underwriting operations that leverage data analytics and software in fast-scaling environments. A background in underwriting corporate loans, trade credit, or performance-based products is considered a plus.</p></li><li><p style=""><strong>Thrive under ambiguity:</strong> You enjoy synthesizing a significant number of information threads to a well-structured and defended plan.</p></li><li><p style=""><strong>Relentless</strong>: You aren’t discouraged by obstacles or the challenges of moving from 0 to 1.</p></li><li><p style=""><strong>Highly analytical:</strong> You have a keen sense for how to break ambiguous problems into 'knowable' components, and you're adept at quickly navigating analytical question and answer pairs which obtain with one another.
